A busy day! phew....

It started off with unpacking of more boxes. Did I tell you that we moved into our new home, nope didn't sell our "vacation home" yet, (not really our vacation home, just the home we moved out of and still own)but the boys and I spent the night last week for the first time. Then the tragedy struck (see last post) so that is probably why you didn't hear that I moved in! :)

After some unpacking, we headed to church. This week is the Missions week and there was a Missions Organization, JAARS, offering helicopter rides. The boys were ecstatic! I think Jeff was the most excited. I had a meeting to attend to, so the 3 of them stood in line, waited their turn and off they went!

After that, we went to a basketball game at NCSU. The boys had a great time. It was their first college athletic event. Thanks to Uncle Tim and Aunt Heather, they were ready and sporting the appropriate clothing. Parker was beside himself when we sat down. Thanks to a dear family who weren't able to use their tickets, they were gracious enough and let us use them! Thanks! :)

Tonight was one of my closest and dearest friends, Julie's birthday. We all went out to eat to this great restaurant. One of the appetizers had a bowl with a BETA fish in it. Well, soon a dare was brought up and money started flying everywhere! DH threw down $40 and then 2 other guys threw down $20s. So it was up to $80! They were daring Julie to eat/swallow the fish! AND SHE DID IT!!!! We were causing such a ruckus that the manager had to come over and ask us to be quiet. The beauty of it is that the manager then started to give Julie tips on how to get it to go down smoothly! :) The kicker - Her husband was charged $10 for the fish! :)

MIA - Sorry

Sorry, I know I have been MIA for a while. Its been a hard 7 days. The LORD chose to take home a sweet sweet servant, her name, Kristi. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She passed away 8 days ago after fighting cancer since October. She left behind 3 sweet boys (ages 5, 2 and 4 months). We don't know why but we don't need to question. It breaks my heart to think of it, but I know where she is. One day we will be reunited. Her family is awesome! I couldn't speak enough about them and their strong faith. What a testimony. It made me cry and cry and cry. I don't cry! I'm dead inside, but these past 8 days have made me cry, a lot! I will miss her and her sweet spirit and her sweet smile!

Fundraiser at McDonalds

A dear friend of ours, Kristi, is suffering from Stage 4 cancer - it started in the breast. She has 3 young boys, almost 5, 2, and 4 months old. She has been in and out of the hospital since October. It is a very sad situation, but we know that God is in control and he is the great Physician! I have had the wonderful opportunity to help the family out every Monday with childcare help and other various household things. It has been a blessing to me!

Tonight, a local McDonalds held a fundraiser for Kristi's family. They were giving the family 50% of the proceeds from 11am - 11pm! So we were there today at 12:30 and stayed for an hour, it was like social hour - which I love me some good social time! A few hours later, we were back there for dinner! Lots of friends were there! We had some good dessert too, for lunch and dinner. Its a good cause, it deserves some McFlurries! :) what a great time! They were also taking cash donations there, and they had already emptied out the giant box! It was so great to see everyone there. The place was very crowded and it was insane! The McDonalds staff was super super impressive. They had 30 staff members on hand and this is not a big establisment (its a McDonalds inside a gas station).

As of 5:30pm tonight they had already raised $18,000!!!! God is good!

TRIPLE COUPONS - Here I come!

I haven't ever really been a coupon clipper - too much trouble. However, in these economic times, I decided it would prudent for me to start clipping coupons. It all started a few months ago when I noticed our grocer was doing triple coupons more frequently. Triple Coupons! I decided that I needed to "up my game" My cute little accordian coupon holder was not cutting it. My kids kept fighting over who was going to hold my coupon, they were dropping on the floor in the store, and it was just chaos. It was taking me forever to keep flipping through them.

A reporter in our local reporter, is a coupon guru. She gives seminars and pointers on her website on how to get the most out of your coupons.

Today, I went to the office supply store, got a binder and baseball card sleeves to organize my coupons. I'm getting really excited about going to shop tomorrow. I'm ready!

Update on Snow Day - NC Style

Many have been asking me "What about Parker?" Why isn't he mentioned or seen here?

HE HATES THE SNOW! He's like his mother, hates the sand, hates the snow! He loves to be barefooted (not so much like his mother).

Here is a pic of Parker in the snow in Michigan in Thanksgiving

Here is a pic of Parker looking out the window. He is watching his big brother play in it and totally fine with it!

Unpack?

Starting to get unpacked, it's like Christmas! I haven't seen these things for 6 months (in storage).

My kitchen is coming together. I'm sure I will move things around more but for now the boxes are empty.

The next few days we'll have painters at the house. I'm really excited about the colors. Previous owner had some wild choices. The economy tanking has given us some good pricing for painting. We weren't planning on it be figure we could get it done ourselves. But when the estimates all came in, we couldn't pass it up.

It's getting close to move in!

Now if only someone will buy my house.

25 Random Things About Me (you may or may not have wanted to know!)

I was "tagged" in facebook the other day to make a list of 25 Random Things About Me. I was trapped in my house for the 2nd day in a row, I was bored so here is my list!

1. I am ASIAN AMERICAN (is that random?)

2. I have "toothbrushing phobia" - where I don't like to watch people brush their teeth - it makes me gag and when talking and brushing of the teeth are involved, it pushes me over the edge. You might as well shove your finger down my throat! ugh....

3. If I were ever stranded on a desert island I could survive on mac and cheese and hot dogs! I love it!

4. I love to cook and I feel like it could be my spiritual gift - and being so, I joke around that is why my friends don't invite me over to dinner. They say its true and I tell them i will eat pizza! But alas, its been awhile since I've been a dinner guest.

5. One of the top things on my "bucket list" is to shoot a deer. I don't want to gut it or anything, just pull the trigger and then go home. But I also do not want to sit in a tree stand for hours and BE SILENT! WHAT! So I don't think it will be happen.

6. Is wondering if any of the men I tagged in this note will do it?

7. I'm allergic to vacuuming - really my Allergy Doctor told me (and I quote). "Mavis you have no business vacuuming!"

8. My husband was my brother's college roomie - and yes I stalked him for 6 years, before he got a clue he was supposed to marry me.

9. I am a techie nerd - pretty stereotypical of asians - when a new techie gadget is out I WANT IT!!! Thankfully my hubby is the same way. I have a blog, flickr, facebook, and way too many gadgety things.

10. I wish I had more time to scrapbook and sew. I pick up too many hobbies and feel the need to go all into it. Thus why my attic and closets are filled with cross stitch, sewing, scrapbooking, stamping, yarn, tennis raquet and so many other random things that I don't do anymore!

11. I went to Disney 7x from Sept 07-Sept 08 - spent 9 weeks total at WDW...

12. I grew up in S. Florida and HATE the sand!

13. I watch "Hannah Montana" & "Suite Life of Zach & Cody" everynite (11pm and 11:30pm). I saw all 3 High School Musicals and went to opening night at the movie theaters for the 3rd one! I look like I am 13, therefore I watch all those shows!

14. Along the lines of 13 - I saw all Harry Potter movies on opening night and have read all the books and pre- ordered all the books so that it would arrive on my doorsteps the same day it was released at Barnes!

15. I am a closet "tree hugger" - guess not so closety anymore.

16. I am a member of the American Rose Society - I have 36 roses (Used to have over 60, but had to get rid of some....) (also a member of the Raleigh Rose Society where I was secretary for 2 years)

17. Wastes too much time on FB - this post being exhibit A

18. My closest friends, (and family members) call me DB - DeadBeat.

19. I went without giving Anderson a bath for 2 years. No he was not smelly, I just never did it. If Jeff was out of town, my dad did it. That is why I'm #18

20. I HATE meeting new people. Probably b/c I am always thinking that people don't like me! I know, its weird, but I greatly dislike going places where I don't know anyone - SERIOUS STRESS AND ANXIETY! Thus probably why I don't like being in front of people - no public speaking for me.

21. I still believe in Santa

22. I live to eat (where most eat to live)

23. I told GOD I would never go anywhere North of NC for college - and GOD said 'HAHAHAHAHAHA' I ended up in the Adirondacks of NY and the armpit of America (Ohio)

24. I HATE THE COLD!

25. Yes, there were children neglected while I posted - unlike Jude - that is why I am #18

**************************
**********************

(b/c I just thought of a few extra ones!)

26. I ramble and have a hard time "breaking" - that is what Jeff calls it - breaking from the conversations - thus why I am on my random Things #26 and counting

27. I HATE PEOPLE who have bad cell phone manners - talking to checkout people (retail locations, grocery stores, drive thrus etc...) while they are on the phone! RUDENESS!!!!! Seriously, is any conversation that important!

28. I don't use public restrooms unless in extreme emergencies and pregnant.

29. I DON'T CAMP! mainly b/c of #28

Snow Day - Day #2

Another day of snow and no school and another jammie day!

Anderson had a bit too much snowy-ness so he has a sore/raspy voice . He was more than happy to stay in his jammies and watch TV all day. Special treat, I pulled out the sofa bed for him and (I know this admission will put me in the "bad mom's club", but I don't think the TV was turned off all day! - except to eat lunch).

So to go with the snow day and to have an excuse to eat cookies, I made a batch of Molasses Spice Cookies. YumO! I even went all out and drizzled some frosting on them...so good! I think tomorrow we need to resume to normal.

My parents are leaving tomorrow for Thailand for 3 weeks. So we are dog sitting for them. We will miss them!

Snow Day - NC style!

We had about 6 inches fall today, a 12 hr snowfall. That means serious stuff here in NC. Businesses are closed, schools are closed, its crazy! Anderson had so much fun today in the snow! He came running into our room at about 7am and was screaming "I know I'm early (he isn't allowed to leave his room til 8am) but there is snow!

A few hours later, after a hearty breakfast, he was bundled up and out there. Thankfully, I had bought snow pants, snow mittens and boots for him back in MI during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Tonight DH took him sledding on the 10th hole in our neighborhood's golf course. Anderson came home with a war wound. Apparently there was a large dip and he went sailing up pretty high. But he wants to go back again!

Mickey Mouse, Barney & Football

So Parker has to sleep with all 3 of these! What a funny combo. The Barney sings too, but thankfully we don't hear it all of the time. MM and Barney are from PoPo so are they extra special! And he makes sure that all 3 are tucked in under the covers with him every night! Its really cute.
